Temporary income support for parents and returning travellers

Parliament passed a bill to replace income for those absent from work without pay under certain conditions. The temporary income support is aimed at people following government’s recommended measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This includes parents caring at home for children who still have the right to contact teaching at school or day care even in exceptional circumstances, and employees who stay in quarantine-like conditions because of a recent return from abroad. The daily support is 28,94 € per weekday.

The parliament accepted the bill presented by Aino-Kaisa Pekonen, Minister for Social Affairs and Health, according to the committee report from the Social Affairs and Health Committee on Friday April 24. The law is implemented from March 16 and is in place until August 31st.
