Centenary of Finland’s independence

The year 2017 will mark Finland’s 100th anniversary as an independent state. It will be an important year for Finland full of events created through joint efforts.

The anniversary year will generate actions, experiences and an extensive programme of events. It will be seen and heard across the country throughout 2017. Through these actions, we will reflect on the past 100 years of Finland’s independence, assess its present and explore its future.

The theme of Finland’s centenary celebration year is ‘Together’.

Parliament of Finland will actively take part in centenary with a multifaceted programme.

The centenary of Finland's independence in 2017 is built together by citizens and organisations. The centenary programme is open for everyone and anyone can submit a project proposal until the end of October 2017. There’s also a designated way for companies to be part of the programme.

The Finland 100 secretariat at the Prime Minister’s Office is in charge of the preparation and coordination of the centenary year. The general outlines of the centenary celebrations are approved by the centenary board and centenary commission led by the Prime Minister.

Finland 100 regional network brings the centenary year message across Finland, the communication units of the ministries to the state administration and Finland’s diplomatic missions beyond our country’s borders.

The centenary programme projects inspire their own stakeholders and the public at large to participate in the celebrations.
