Government and Minister Rydman win votes of confidence after an interpellation

Following an interpellation, the Government won the vote of confidence 92-76 on Monday, 24 June. The subject of the interpellation was the confidence on Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman (Finns Party Parliamentary Group). Parliament also voted on the confidence on minister Rydman with the same result 92-76.

The interpellation posed the question of whether Minister Rydman's conduct corresponds to the requirements of a government minister. The interpellation was submitted by the Left Alliance Parliamentary Group, Social Democratic Parliamentary Group, and Green Parliamentary Group.

Interpellation is a question submitted by at least 20 Members of Parliament to the Government or a minister concerning a matter falling within their competence. The purpose of the interpellation is to determine the confidence enjoyed by the Government or the minister. The Government must reply to an interpellation in a plenary session within 15 days. After receiving the reply to the interpellation, Parliament debates the matter and proceeds to vote on whether the Government or a particular minister enjoys the confidence of Parliament.
