Meeting of the Chairpersons of COSAC

21.7. - 22.7.2019

Meeting of the Chairpersons of COSAC

The Chairpersons’ meeting brings together the chairpersons of the European Affairs Committees of the national Parliaments of the Member States and representatives of the European Parliament. The aim of COSAC is to strengthen the role of national parliaments in EU lawmaking.

The overall theme of the Finnish presidency is “From discussions to solutions”. The presidency hopes that the institutional transition between the European elections and the commencement of the new Commission will be a time for reflection on how to move forward on some contentious issues that have remained unresolved.

The main political debate at the COSAC chairpersons’ meeting, on the Multiannual Financial Framework, will be held in this spirit. After a keynote address by Mr. Alain Lamassoure, former French minister and former MEP, participants are invited to give their views on how to find common ground, and an MFF that all member states can accept.
