Meeting of Agriculture Committees of EU Parliaments

27.10. - 28.10.2019

Meeting of Agriculture Committees of EU Parliaments

The conference focuses on the reform of Common Agricultural Policy after 2020 as well as on the role of climate change in agricultural policy.

The Inter-parliamentary Conference on the reform of Common Agricultural Policy (CAP2020) will be organised by the Parliament of Finland on Monday, October 28, 2019 in Helsinki.

The general theme of the Finnish EU Presidency is “From Discussion to solution”. It is in this spirit that we have invited the committees dealing with agriculture in the member state parliaments.

The conference has two main topics. The first topic is the European Commission’s proposals on the common agricultural policy (CAP) beyond 2020. These proposals aim to make the CAP more responsive to current and future challenges such as climate change and generational renewal, while continuing to support European farmers and a sustainable and competitive agricultural sector.

The second topic is climate change as an element of agricultural policy. We hope that participants will get new insights about the effects of climate change on global food security.
